Lisa A. Mcgee MD

Lisa A. McGee, MD, is an Assistant Professor of Radiation Oncology and a Consultant in the Department of Radiation Oncology at Mayo Clinic in Phoenix, Arizona. She is a board-certified radiation oncologist specializing in the treatment of breast cancer and head and neck cancers, with expertise in proton therapy, photon radiotherapy, and advanced radiation treatment planning.

Dr. McGee earned her medical degree from the University of Toledo College of Medicine after completing a bachelor's degree in biochemistry at Alma College. She completed a transitional year internship at Oakwood Hospital and Medical Center, followed by a residency in Radiation Oncology at the University of Florida College of Medicine.

Her research focuses on improving outcomes for patients with breast and head and neck cancers through comparative effectiveness studies of proton versus photon therapy, pragmatic clinical trials, patient-reported outcomes, toxicity mitigation, and precision radiation treatment. She also investigates contour quality assurance, target delineation, biological modeling, and educational innovations in radiation oncology to enhance treatment quality and resident education.

In addition to her clinical and research activities, Dr. McGee serves as Program Director of the Radiation Oncology Residency Program at Mayo Clinic School of Graduate Medical Education and Associate Chair of Education in the Department of Radiation Oncology. She is an active leader in national professional organizations, including the Association of Directors of Radiation Oncology Programs, and has been recognized with numerous honors, including the Association of Residents in Radiation Oncology's Educator of the Year Award.
