Lionel Guy MSc, PhD

Dr. Lionel Guy received his Ph.D. from the University of Lausanne, Switzerland. He then was a postdoctoral fellow in the labs of Prof. Siv Andersson and of Prof. Thijs Ettema at Uppsala University, Sweden. Since 2015, he is Assistant Professor at the Department of Medical Biochemistry and Microbiology at the same institution. He is interested in the evolution of prokaryotic genomes, in particular of host-adapted bacteria, and has studied Bartonella and Legionella. He also has a long-standing interest for eukaryogenesis and has been involved in the discovery of the Asgard archaea, the closest prokyaryotic relatives of eukaryotes.
