Dr. Lindsay Brown Kelmenson was born and raised in Birmingham, Alabama. After graduation from Oak Mountain High School, she attended Furman University in Greenville, SC, where she completed her premedical studies and majored in French, graduating summa cum laude. She studied abroad twice in France and even worked at a hospital in Nice, France. From there, Dr. Kelmenson returned to Alabama to attend medical school at the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB), where she was first introduced to the rewarding specialty of rheumatology as a third-year medical student. She recognized that rheumatology was the perfect career for her, offering cherished patient-doctor relationships and a complex spectrum of diseases to treat.

After receiving her medical degree at UAB, Dr. Kelmenson moved to Boston to complete her residency in internal medicine at Massachusetts General Hospital, the largest teaching hospital of Harvard Medical School. While in Boston, she met her husband Dan and together they relocated to Denver, where Dr. Kelmenson completed her fellowship in rheumatology at the University of Colorado and also earned a Master of Science in Clinical Science. She is board certified in internal medicine and rheumatology.

Dr. Kelmenson is active in the Arthritis Foundation and Sjogren’s Syndrome Foundation. She is a member of Alpha Omega Alpha medical honor society and has been recognized by the American College of Rheumatology and Rheumatology Research Foundation for the Medical & Pediatric Resident Research Award and the Scientist Development Award. She joined the faculty at the University of Colorado but was eager to move back to warm weather, family, and Sweet Home Alabama.
