Linda Ferrell, M.D. is a liver pathologist, Professor of Pathology, Vice Chair of Clinical Services, and Director of Surgical Pathology at UCSF. She specializes in the diagnosis of liver disorders such as: benign liver tumors, cirrhosis, hepatitis B, hepatitis C, hepatocellular carcinoma, vascular lesions, metastastic cancer to the liver, liver transplantation, nonalcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) and nonalcoholic steatohepatitis (NASH).

She graduated summa cum laude from the University of Kansas, where she also attended medical school and completed her residency. Dr. Ferrell went on to complete her surgical pathology fellowship at the University of California, San Francisco, while concurrently serving as Chief Resident. She has been the recipient of numerous awards, published a large number of articles and book chapters and currently serves as a co-editor on two medical textbooks in her field of expertise. In early 2010 she was elected Vice President of the United States and Canadian Academy of Pathology (USCAP).
