Linda A. Barbour, MD, MSPH, FACP, is a Tenured Professor in Endocrinology, Metabolism and Diabetes and Maternal-Fetal Medicine with a Master’s of Science in Public Health. Her clinical and research expertise is in endocrine and metabolic diseases in pregnancy, and she directs the OB Diabetes Clinic and High Risk OB Clinic at University Hospital. She was recently awarded the Norbert Freinkel award by the American Diabetes Association for her life-long teaching, clinical, and research contributions to advance the care of pregnant women with diabetes and metabolic disease.

Barbour is the Past Chair for the ADA Scientific Planning Committee for Pregnancy, Past President for the North American Society of Obstetric Medicine, and he served on the NIH Research Panel on Gestational Diabetes, the Endocrine Society Guidelines Panel on Thyroid Dysfunction in Pregnancy, and she serves as a Key Informant on the USPSTF on Screening for Gestational Diabetes. She has been named in “Best Doctors in America” for over 25 years, authored ~100 manuscripts, chapters, or textbooks, and serves on the Editorial Board of “Diabetes Care”. Her clinical/translational research has been funded by NIH K23, R21, R01, and ADA grants, and she has served as a research mentor for over 30 junior investigators in the study of the intrauterine environment and fetal programming of childhood obesity and metabolic disease.
