Seng Gee Lim is Director of Hepatology at the National University Hospital in Singapore. He is also an Adjunct Principal Investigator at the Institute of Molecular and Cell Biology, part of the Agency of Science, Technology and Research in Singapore. Professor Lim graduated in medicine from Monash Medical School in Melbourne, Australia, and completed further training at Alfred Hospital in Melbourne. Subsequently,

He worked as a research fellow at the Royal Free Hospital in London, UK, where he gained his research MD. Moving to Singapore, Professor Lim was Chief of Gastroenterology and Hepatology at the National University Hospital before he assumed his current position in 2011. Professor Lim’s research interests include new treatments for chronic hepatitis B and C, with a particular focus on translational research in viral hepatitis, molecular biology, and immunology of hepatitis.

He runs an active laboratory which investigates the hepatitis B lifecycle. A Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians and the UK Royal College of Physicians, Professor Lim is on the editorial boards of numerous journals, including Liver International, the Journal of Viral Hepatitis, Hepatology International, and Alimentary Pharmacology and Therapeutics.

The author of over 180 articles in peer-reviewed journals, he was President of APASL Liver Week in 2013, and he has been an abstract reviewer for AASLD. In 2014 Professor Lim was appointed to the Governing Board of the International Association for the Study of the Liver (IASL). He is currently the chairman of the Singapore Hepatitis Conference-EASL meeting.
