Dr. Lijia Aviles is a Bolivian medical graduate from the Universidad Mayor de San Andres (UMSA) and specialized as a Radiation Oncologist at the University of Buenos Aires (UBA). She completed an Observership at the Massachusetts General Hospital and Dana Farber Cancer Center in Boston. She holds a Master's degree in High Technologies of Radiotherapy from Madrid with the Madrilenian Oncology Group.

Additionally, she earned a Master's degree in Radiosurgery from the Complutense University of Madrid. After nearly 10 years of working in prestigious hospitals in Buenos Aires, she returned to Bolivia in 2017 where she pioneered the establishment of the country's first high-tech cancer center. Together with her team, she started the advanced brachytherapy program in 2021 and performed the first Interstitial implant with Venezia in the country in 2023.

Dr. Aviles is a board member of ALATRO (Latin American Radiation Therapy Association), has publications in high-impact scientific journals, and is invited to various international conferences as a speaker and representative of her country. Currently, she serves as the Director of Radiation Oncology at Oncoservice Clinic and is the founder and president of the Latin American Association of Women in Oncology (ALAMO).
