Professor Lieven Lagae is Full Professor at the University of Leuven, Belgium (KUL), Head of the Paediatric Neurology Department of the KUL University Hospitals, and Director of the Childhood Epilepsy Program at the KUL University Hospitals. He is the current President of the European Paediatric Neurology Society and serves as an elected Board Member of the International Child Neurology Association. From 2004 to 2015, he was the Editor-in-Chief of the European Journal of Paediatric Neurology. His main scientific interest is the relationship between childhood epilepsy and cognitive development. Current epilepsy research projects include: (1) event-related potential (ERP) study of prefrontal functions; (2) translational research in Zebrafish models of epilepsy; (3) new anti-epileptic drugs in childhood epilepsy; (4) brain stimulation in childhood epilepsy; and (5) preventive treatment of epilepsy in tuberous sclerosis.
