Levinus (leo) A. Dieleman MD, PhD

Dr. Leo Dieleman is an Associate Professor of Medicine at the University of Alberta, and a member of the Active Medical Staff. In 1983, Dr. Dieleman received his medical degree cum laude from the Catholic University of Nijmegen, The Netherlands. After his Internal Medicine residency training at the University of Leiden, The Netherlands, Dr. Dieleman was the recipient of an International Fogarty Research Fellowship award which was carried out at the University of Alabama at Birmingham, USA. In 1992, he returned to the Netherlands for his clinical Gastroenterology Training at the Free University of Amsterdam. In 1995, Dr. Dieleman received his PhD degree for his studies on the role of cytokines in human and experimental intestinal inflammation. In 1998, he joined the Faculty at the Division of Gastroenterology at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, USA, where he continued his research as well as clinical work in IBD. In 2003, Dr. Dieleman joined the Division of Gastroenterology at the University of Alberta, Canada.
