Dr. Leonora Muhammad is a highly qualified healthcare professional with extensive experience in leading healthcare organizations through change with a proven history of increasing productivity, promoting compliance, and improving quality. She is a Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) with 18 years of experience in healthcare, managing clinical operations, instituting clinical policy and nursing programs, and quality training courseware. Under Dr. Muhammad's leadership at Corizon, she has helped correctional facilities nationwide successfully reduce and mitigate risk including streamlining the reporting of patient safety events and decreasing avoidable emergency room visits and inpatient hospitalizations by improving utilization of in-house infirmary bed management. Dr. Muhammad is the Associate Vice President of Patient Care Services at Corizon Health. She serves as a champion and advocate for the 3500+ Corizon Health nurses and clinical staff. She plays a key role in establishing and promoting best practices that consistently result in high-quality care and improved health outcomes for our patients and the communities we serve. She has also published articles that highlighted care for incarcerated dementia patients. She is an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse and Board Certified in Adult Geriatric Primary Care. She has obtained multiple certifications and achievements including becoming a Certified Correctional Healthcare Professional (CCHP) along with being elected as a Trustee on the NCCHC CCHP Board of Trustees and was the winner of the NCCHC Young Professionals Award in 2019. She is also a lifetime member and Board of Directors member of the National Black Nurses Association
