Leon Barron BSc, PhD

Dr Leon Barron is a Senior Lecturer in Forensic Science at KCL within the King's Forensics team. He leads an environmental forensics research group focusing on new, defensible approaches to the detection of environmental hazards/crime and their effects on humans/biota.

This includes new methodologies to identify, monitor and understand the effects of novel environmental pollutants (e.g. pharmaceuticals, illicit drugs and personal care products), environmental detection of security threats (e.g. early warning explosives detection in air/water), wildlife crime and ecotoxicology. Underpinning this research are novel developments in (bio)analytical chemistry including advanced sampling technologies, separation science, (high resolution) mass spectrometry and in silico prediction/data interpretation tools.
