Leigh Bakel MD, MSc

Dr. Leigh Anne Bakel, MD, MSc is an Associate Professor of Pediatrics at the University of Colorado School of Medicine in the Section of Hospital Medicine. She is also a Medical Director of Clinical Effectiveness and Director of the Clinical Pathways program at Children’s Hospital Colorado. She completed a Pediatric Academic Research Fellowship at the University of Toronto completing a Master’s of Science in Clinical Epidemiology and a Certificate course in Quality Improvement and Patient Safety. She has been involved in several quality improvement projects in her role as a Medical Director of Clinical Effectiveness, and she has continued to iterate improvements in the Clinical Pathways program. Her research interests include the use of clinical pathways in pediatrics as an intervention to drive evidence-based care to the bedside. She is interested in better understanding how clinical pathways improve care for children.
