Dr. Lefeng QU is a Professor and Chief in the Department of Vascular & Endovascular Surgery of Shanghai Changzheng Hospital. He majors in minimally invasive diagnosis & treatment and training on vascular system diseases except for intracranial and cardiac vascular, and research on related instruments & tools. He is very specialized in operation on the carotid artery individually completing over 4,000 operation cases which is the highest number in China in terms of such operations. Dr. QU developed the Web of Chinese Carotid Artery (http://www.chinesecarotid.com/).

Dr. QU takes the lead in developing multiples of innovative carotid artery operation methods, which results in operation duration decreasing by 50% - 67%, and complication ratio drops to 1% from 3-6%. Moreover, via breaking of the traditional time window, he acted as a pioneer of conducting carotid endarterectomy in the emergency clinic, and also as a pioneer of exploring the surgical treatment of carotid artery occlusion, post-CAS restenosis/occlusion, common carotid restenosis/occlusion, and post-radiotherapy carotid artery stenosis, large near skull base necked aneurysms. Meanwhile, he studied the pathogenesis of carotid stenosis and cerebral infarction.

Dr. QU first set up helicobacter pylori infection-induced hyperlipidemia rabbits, a carotid atherosclerosis model, in the world. He also first developed the new concept of “Anatomic fixation” of EVAR in the world. Based on this concept, the complication ratio of the post-EVAR far-end shift of implants drops to 0 from 30-50%, and the successful endovascular repair rate of abdominal aortic aneurysms with short and difficult neck increases to 80-90% from 30-40%. He was awarded a second prize for military medical achievement in China for this innovative concept. As for venous thromboembolism, the oriental discovered a couple of on-stop, tailor-made, and comprehensive minimally invasive therapy methods. This orientation study was published as a cover thesis on Gefässchirurgie. And Dr. QU was invited to participate in compiling related chapters of the international monograph.
