Dr. Lee graduated from The University of Hong Kong in 1990. He subsequently served in and received training in rheumatology from its affiliated Queen Mary Hospital. In 1998, he was promoted to Pamela Youde Nethersole Eastern Hospital to establish the rheumatology service for the hospital. In 2003, he developed the clinical program for biologic therapy in rheumatic diseases and set up the ‘Centre for Biologic Therapy in Rheumatology’ to coordinate the service for patients receiving biologic therapy. In 2004, he introduced musculoskeletal ultrasound as a clinical service in his rheumatology unit and actively promoting the application of the technique locally and internationally.

He had organized many ultrasound training workshops in Hong Kong and China. Moreover, he was invited as a trainer in regional ultrasound training courses including APLAR. He is also an accredited ultrasound trainer under EULAR. In 2013, Dr. Lee was appointed as the Director and Honorary Consultant of the Rheumatology Centre of Hong Kong Sanatorium & Hospital. He is also the Honorary Associate Professor of both the University of Hong Kong and the Chinese University of Hong Kong. Currently, Dr. Lee is the vice president of the Hong Kong Arthritis & Rheumatism Foundation and honorary advisor of different patient groups. Through these organizations, he is actively involved in community service and is particularly focusing on public and patient education.
