Laxmisha Chandrashekar is an Additional Professor & Head, of the Department of Skin & STD, Jawaharlal Institute of Postgraduate Medical Education & Research ( JIPMER), Puducherry for the research work on Inflammatory mediators in chronic urticaria and their effects on the hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal axis. The research on chronic urticaria paves the way for understanding the interplay between chronic stress, systemic inflammation, and hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal axis suppression. Cases with increased disease severity, longer duration, and higher stress scores are more likely to have systemic inflammation, platelet activation, platelet oxidative stress, hypovitaminosis D, and hypocortisolism.
