Lawrence S. Kirschner MD, PhD

Kirschner is a physician-scientist and clinical endocrinologist with more than 20 years of experience. His area of expertise is treating patients with pituitary and adrenal tumors (including adrenal cancer and pheochromocytoma) and inherited syndromes which cause endocrine tumors or other endocrine dysfunction. He serve as professor in the Division of Endocrinology, Diabetes and Metabolism, interim director of the Medical Scientist Training Program and director of the SUCCESS Undergraduate Summer Research Program.

He NIH-funded research at the OSUCCC – James is focused on endocrine tumor genetics, with a specific interest in understanding how dysregulation of PKA contributes to tumorigenesis in cAMP-responsive tissues like the thyroid and adrenal glands. His currently serving as principal investigator or co-investigator for five active research projects and clinical trials in Cushing syndrome and acromegaly. He presented his findings at numerous national and international meetings, and had my work published in peer-reviewed academic publications.
