Dr. Lawrence C. Layman is the Robert B. Greenblatt, M.D. Chair in Endocrinology, Professor & Chief of the Section of Reproductive Endocrinology, Infertility, & Genetics in the Department of Obstetrics & Gynecology at Georgia Regents University in Augusta, Georgia. He is board certified in Obstetrics & Gynecology; Reproductive Endocrinology & Infertility; Clinical Genetics; and Clinical Molecular Genetics.
He has joint appointments in the Department of Neuroscience & Regenerative Medicine and the Department of Physiology, and is the Co-Director of the MD/PhD Program at GRU. Dr. Layman is a physician-scientist who sees patients and studies genetic aspects of puberty and reproduction in his molecular endocrinology laboratory, funded by the NIH since 1997. Research contributions include the identification of human mutations in the GNRHR, FSHB, CHD7, WDR11, and ESR1 genes and their associated phenotypes. He has also been actively involved in student training at both undergraduate and graduate levels.
