Dr. Laurie Sue Eisenberg PhD is an audiologist who engages in clinical research on topics related to pediatric hearing loss, auditory perception, and prosthetic devices for children who are deaf or hard of hearing (cochlear implants, auditory brainstem implants, and hearing aids). Her primary research interest involves defining the auditory factors and their inter-relationships that underlie the development of spoken communication competence in children with hearing loss. Dr. Eisenberg has had numerous collaborations; most recently with scientists from Johns Hopkins University, San Diego State University, Indiana University, and Washington University. Her research is supported by the National Institute on Deafness and Other Communication Disorders (NIDCD) of the National Institutes of Health (NIH).
