Dr. Laurie N. Fishman, MD is an attending in the Division of Gastroenterology at Children's Hospital and an Associate Professor of Pediatrics at Harvard Medical School. She completed her undergraduate education at Yale University and then received her MD from New York University in 1989. She completed her pediatric residency at the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia, then her pediatric gastroenterology fellowship at Children's Hospital in Boston in 1995, and remained on staff.

Dr. Fishman was chair of the Education Committee of the national pediatric gastroenterology society, restructured and ran their postgraduate course for 3 years, and was the only pediatrician on the AGA Education and Training Committee for 3 years. She is on the board of the Children's Hospital Academy.

Dr. Fishman has served as a tutor in the gastroenterology section of the HMS Pathophysiology Course for 16 years, participating in faculty development and curriculum development. She serves as a peer consultant for tutors in other specialties. Her educational interests are Peer Observation and Leading Discussion Groups. She is an active participant in the Harvard Academy interest group on peer observation and has offered peer feedback across multiple disciplines. Dr. Fishman has taught workshops on problem-based learning and lectured nationally and locally on leading discussions.
