McCauley is the William K. and Mary Anne Najjar Professor in Periodontics. She joined the school as a faculty member in 1992, and continues to conduct scientific research, clinical education and clinical practice. She also has an appointment as a professor in the Department of Pathology at the U-M Medical School. McCauley started her first five-year term as 14th dean and first woman to lead the School of Dentistry on Sept. 1, 2013. McCauley said challenges in her next term will include the major renovation of the School of Dentistry building, now in the early stages, and continued work on the school’s strategic plan. McCauley holds four degrees from Ohio State University: an undergraduate degree in education, Doctor of Dental Surgery, Master of Science in dentistry and a PhD in veterinary pathobiology.
