A Clinical Assistant Professor of Medicine at the NYU Langone Medical Center and a board-certified gastroenterologist, Dr. Schwartz is driven by her interest in the nutritional aspects of gastrointestinal disease. She specializes in treating patients, who suffer from severe malabsorptive syndromes that are related to short bowel syndrome, a condition that occurs when parts of the small intestine are missing, and nutrients are not properly absorbed.

Dr. Schwartz received her medical degree from Weill-Cornell Medical College in 2002, and completed her residency at New York Presbyterian-Weill Cornell Medical Center. She then went on to complete fellowships in gastroenterology at Mount Sinai Hospital and a fellowship in clinical nutrition at the Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center. In 2009, Dr. Schwartz joined the academic faculty at the Division of Gastroenterology and The Recanati Miller Transplant Institute at Mount Sinai Hospital, where she served as a gastroenterologist for the Intestinal Transplant Team. During her time on the Intestinal Transplant Team, Dr. Schwartz developed an intestinal rehabilitation program that is dedicated to the care of patients that are suffering from dysmotility disorders, as well as severe malabsorptive conditions.
