Dr. Lauren Jonkman currently serves as co-director of the Area of Concentration in Global Health and coordinates various global health experiences for student pharmacists and trainees. Within the school, Dr. Jonkman mentors students on research and practice experiences working in limited-resource settings around the world. She coordinates a global health elective (P3s), an elective in Namibia during spring break or summer (P1-P3), and oversees an elective for international students to be eligible for CPT (P2-P3).

As a former full-time faculty member at Pitt, Dr. Jonkman practiced as a primary care clinical pharmacist at the Birmingham Free Clinic, providing direct care for non-communicable diseases. She is passionate about primary care and dedicated to ensuring equitable, quality care for all people regardless of resources. Currently, Dr. Jonkman is a full-time faculty member at the University of Namibia School of Pharmacy, where he is responsible for teaching, mentorship, and research in clinical pharmacy practice. She teaches therapeutics and clinical skills to BPharm and MPharm students at UNAM. She served as a Fulbright Scholar at the University of Namibia School of Pharmacy in 2018.

Dr. Jonkman received her PharmD in 2006 from the University of Pittsburgh School of Pharmacy. She subsequently completed a two-year pharmacy residency program at UPMC St. Margaret focusing on pharmacy practice, family medicine, and faculty development. She received her MPH from the University of Pittsburgh in 2012. She is a 2016 recipient of the University of Pittsburgh Chancellor's Distinguished Public Service Award. Dr. Jonkman is a member of the American Association of Colleges of Pharmacy, the American College of Clinical Pharmacy, and the International Pharmaceutical Federation.
