Laura Sinko is a PhD candidate at the University of Michigan School of Nursing. Laura graduated from the traditional BSN program in May 2016 and has experience working as an RN on University of Michigan Health System's Child and Adolescent Psychiatry Floor. Laura is a clinical trauma professional and has a clinical research interest in the trauma recovery process, focusing specifically on utilizing narrative interventions to aid in trauma processing in survivors of gender based violence. Laura's dissertation is on healing after unwanted sexual experiences on a college campus. Currently, Laura is also working with Dr. Denise Saint Arnault, utilizing narrative story telling to better understand the trauma recovery process in survivors of gender based violence. Preliminary goals are to learn more about the effects on trauma on physical and emotional functioning as well as the trauma recovery and help seeking processes in these women.
