Laura J. Simpkins MSN, APRN, FNP-C

Laura Simpkins is from Columbus, OH and attended Capital University for her BSN. After undergrad, she moved to Phoenix, AZ and worked at a large, teaching hospital in the Medical/Surgical ICU. Realizing the importance of primacy care, to help keep patients healthy and out of the ICU, she went back to school for Master’s of Nursing- Family Nurse Practitioner at Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, OH. Laura has worked at an FQHC in Baltimore, MD for the previous 5 years. In Baltimore, Laura provides primary care services to a wide range of patients, with a variety of chronic conditions, who are deeply marginalized and underserved. Laura was honoured to be chosen to participate in the 2018-2019 Duke Johnson and Johnson Nurse Leadership Program, a year-long fellowship through Duke University. Sexual health, family planning, and HIV are of particular interest to Laura. She also has some great cross-country moving tips if needed.
