Dr. Kyle J. Hewitt research employs multidisciplinary approaches to identify gene regulatory networks and cell signaling mechanisms that control blood production during development and/or regeneration following disease or injury. He focus on transcriptional and epigenetic mechanisms that cause hematologic disorders, including cancer and anemia, and mechanisms that regulate the function of hematopoietic stem and progenitor cells.
He is Establishing fundamental principles that govern blood homeostasis (and genetic mutations that predispose illness) is an essential step towards developing personalized medicine approaches and advancing translational strategies to treat disease. The lab is looking for talented, curious students and postdocs to drive innovative scientific projects.
