Dr. Kwang Sik Kim is a professor of pediatrics at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine. Dr. Kim serves as the director of the Eudowood Division of Pediatric Infectious Diseases at the Johns Hopkins Children’s Center. He holds a joint appointment in molecular microbiology and immunology at the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health.

As a researcher, his chief interest is in the pathogenesis of sepsis and central nervous system (CNS) infections, using microbial genomics and proteomics. Sepsis and CNS infections are prevalent and remain the major causes of mortality and morbidity throughout the world; attempts to control such diseases have been hampered by incomplete knowledge of the pathogenesis.
