Kulenthran Arumugam MBBS, FRCOG, MD, PhD, LLB, Dip Epid (Lond)

Professor Kulenthran graduated from the University of Singapore in 1975. He had an interest in Obstetrics and Gynecology and went on to obtain his MRCOG from the Royal College London in 1982. He then joined the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, University of Malaya Medical Centre the following year as a Lecturer. He rose through the ranks and was appointed Senior Consultant and Full Professor in 1991. In 2005 he found his niche in Medical Education, Research Development and Clinical epidemiology and moved to that Unit in the Faculty that year. He has been there since. However, he still keeps in touch with clinical work and continues to teach Obstetrics and Gynecology both at the Post and Undergraduate levels.

He has the rare distinction of holding two Doctoral degrees an MD and a PhD both for the University of Malaya. He is also well versed in the principles of epidemiology having passed the Post Graduate Diploma in Epidemiology from the London School of Hygiene, University of London in 2003. In addition, he has a Certification in Advanced Epidemiological Analysis from the London School of Hygiene, Practical Statistics for Medical Research from University College London and in the Conduct of Clinical Trials, University of Bristol. He has run a number of workshops in Clinical Epidemiology. He is well versed with the STATA Statistical software and in medical research. He has more than 60 publications in peer reviewed journals to his name. He has conducted numerous workshops and seminars on the subject.
