Dr. Krzysztof Wróbel is a Head of the Cardiac Surgery Clinic of the Medicover Hospital and a Professor at the Lazarski University.
Krzysztof Wróbel, habilitated doctor of medical sciences, studied medicine at the Jagiellonian University and Rochester New York. He obtained the certificate from the European Society of Cardio-Thoracic Surgery. He also completed the prestigious "Surgical Leadership Program" training conducted by Harvard Medical School.
He is one of the outstanding cardiac surgeons of the young generation - active both professionally and academically. His notable achievements include publications in collaboration with the Duke Clinical Research Institute, which have appeared in the most prestigious medical journals such as the New England Journal of Medicine and Circulation. For the publication on the early results of surgical treatment of patients operated on as part of the STICH study, he received the Award of the Polish Society of Cardio-Thoracic Surgery for the best publication in 2014-2015. The double award of both societies was awarded for the first time.
Dr. Wróbel was the first in Poland and one of the few in Europe to use the innovative technique of transapical tendon thread implantation at the Medicover Hospital without extracorporeal circulation under the control of three-dimensional echocardiography using the Neochord system. The use of this technique was awarded in the Z?oty Skalpel 2015 competition organized by Puls Medycyny. During the last year, he has taught this procedure in centers in Germany, the Netherlands, Finland, Switzerland, France, Austria, Latvia, Turkey, Great Britain, Israel, and the USA. He collaborates with the most prestigious cardiac surgery centers in the United States and Europe to further improve this method. Together with one of the pioneers of robotic cardio surgery, Dr. Chitwood, he developed a simulator for teaching transcapular tendon thread implantation. In 2017, he participated in the first world of the simultaneous application of the technique of transapical tendon thread implantation without extracorporeal circulation under the control of three-dimensional echocardiography using the Neochord system and transvascular implantation of the mitral ring Cardioband, which was published in the European Heart Journal. He was one of the lecturers at the Congress of Inspirations organized by Marek Kami?ski.
Dr. Wróbel also performed the first mitral valve plasty in Poland with the use of the da Vinci surgical robot.
