Krysia Dziedzic

Professor Dziedzic qualified as a physiotherapist in 1982. She completed her PhD at Keele University in 1997 and became a Senior Research Fellow at Keele and West Midlands Physiotherapy Clinical Trialist, a post focusing on enhancing evidence based musculoskeletal physiotherapy practice through randomised controlled clinical trials. In 2000 Professor Dziedzic was appointed Arthritis Research UK Senior Lecturer in Physiotherapy, a post created by the Arthritis Research UK to develop and expand academic activities in research, to provide inspiration and leadership to other allied health professionals, to work in a wider context within research in community rheumatology and to exert an influence at national and international levels. Professor Dziedzic has been very successful in this role being awarded funding from both the National Institute of Health Research and Arthritis Research UK to lead research on common musculoskeletal conditions, including the management of osteoarthritis.

Professor Dziedzic places particular importance on interdisciplinary heath care and is recognised both nationally and internationally as one of the leading allied health professionals in the field of osteoarthritis. She influences musculoskeletal national and international policy by representing AHPs on guideline committees, including NICE and EULAR. She has published over 60 peer reviewed papers on musculoskeletal practice, co-authored book chapters and edited an evidence based text book for AHPs on the management of musculoskeletal conditions. Professor Dziedzic was awarded a personal chair by Keele University in 2010, as Arthritis Research UK Professor of Musculoskeletal Therapies.
