Ms. Univ.-Ass.in Dr.in Kristina Bertl on the occasion 2013 in the top journal " Journal of Clinical Periodontology"(IF 3.688) “Oral microbial colonization in laryngectomies patients as a possible cofactor of biofilm formation on their voice prostheses” [2]. The publication was created at the Department of Oral Surgery (head of the department: Ao.Univ.-Prof. DDr. Ch. Ulm), Bernhard Gottlieb University Dental Clinic, the Medical University of Vienna in cooperation with the Clinical Department for Phoniatrics-Logopedics of the University Clinic for Ear and Nose - and ear diseases, MedUniVienna. The aim of this study was to determine whether the presence of periodontal germs in the biofilm on voice prostheses is related to those in the oral cavity and associated with the periodontal status of these patients. This work received an award at this year's Ph.D. symposium.
