Krista Poynter BS, MS, PhD

Krista Poynter is currently a clinical chemist in the Division of Laboratory Sciences at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) in Atlanta, GA. Her experience working with complex laboratory instruments and equipment has enabled her to effectively lead the execution of hormone reference methods and global standardization programs at the CDC.
She also monitors equipment, compiles internal laboratory data, analyzes external collaborator data, aids lab staff in fiscal year ordering, inventory management, PM and calibration procedures, writes technical documents, edits papers, presentations, and other documents for all levels of staff branch-wide, and helps teach a biannual joint-center method development and LC/MS/MS training course for B.S., M.S. and PhD level participants at Emory Hospital in Atlanta, GA.
Krista had a strong laboratory background prior to coming to CDC, and her dual studies in both Psychology and Professional Chemistry have proven her to be uniquely adapted to train and lead other lab staff, as well as write and edit documents with a clear understanding of the scientific principles often associated only with laboratorians. She is a creative problem solver, detail-oriented, and carries out all tasks well within given timelines.
