Konstantinos Ritis is Professor in Internal Medicine and Head of the First Department of Internal Medicine & the Laboratory of Molecular Hematology of Democritus University of Thrace (DUTH). Professor Ritis graduated from Medical School of Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, and he obtained his PhD in Immunology at DUTH. He holds the specialties of Internal Medicine and Hematology. He is an active member of DUTH academic community and faculty since 1993.
He has done advanced training and research fellowships in immunology, molecular biology and genetics. His recent research interests and key publications include mechanisms of innate immunity in translational medicine, mainly thromboiflammation, NETs, autophagy, and autoinflammation. He described novel mechanisms in thrombosis and Familial Mediterranean Fever. He is an expert on inflammation and coagulation giving numerous invited talks and tutorials and contributing at advisory boards.
