Konstantinos Kostikas studied at the Medical School of the University of Athens and trained in Pulmonology at the University Pulmonology Clinic of Sotiria Hospital, the Intensive Care Unit of Evangelismos Hospital, and the Royal Brompton Hospital, London, UK.
He completed his thesis on the study of markers in the exhaled air of patients with inflammatory airway diseases (asthma and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease) at the Medical School of the University of Athens with a grade of "Excellent".
He has been a Lecturer in Pulmonology at the Pulmonology Clinic of the University of Thessaly, a scientific associate of the Second Pulmonology Clinic of the University of Athens and the Hygiene and Epidemiology Laboratory of the University of Thessaly, as well as a collaborator of the Pulmonology Clinic of the University Hospital Basel, in Switzerland.
Since January 2019 he has been Associate Professor of Pulmonology and Director of the University Pulmonology Clinic of the University General Hospital of Ioannina, while since September 2022 he has been elected Professor of Pulmonology at the University of Ioannina.
The Professor's research activities are focused on the personalized treatment of patients with severe asthma and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), the use of biological agents in patients with airway diseases, biological markers in patients with airway diseases, artificial intelligence in patients with airway diseases, inhaled drug devices & the use of newer technologies, as well as sleep apnea and non-obstructive breathing. penetrating mechanical ventilation. He also has clinical experience in the management of patients with interstitial lung diseases (such as idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis), as well as in bronchoscopy and other invasive techniques.
