Koen Nieman

Koen Nieman is an associate professor in cardiac imaging and currently director of cardiac CT and MRI research, a joined program between the departments of radiology and cardiology, at the Erasmus MC in Rotterdam. He is also medical director of the intensive cardiac care unit at the Erasmus MC.

Dr Nieman acquired his medical license at the University of Nijmegen, obtained a PhD in cardiac CT and completed his cardiology training at the Erasmus MC in Rotterdam. He spent one year as a fellow at the cardiac CT/MR/PET program of the Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston. Dr Nieman has (co-)authored >130 papers in the field of cardiac imaging, authored >10 book chapters and (co-)edited 2 books. He is an active member of several international societies, including the Dutch Cardiology Association and cardiac CT/MR/Nuclear working group, the European Association of Cardiovascular Imaging and CT/Nuclear Section, and the Society of Cardiac CT.
