Kirsty Bannister, BSc, MRes, PhD, began her scientific career in the Pharmacology Department, University College London. Having completed her Master of Research and then PhD at the Clinical Sciences Centre, Imperial College London, Kirsty moved back to the department of Neuroscience, Physiology and Pharmacology at University College London as a post-doctoral researcher.
Since returning to UCL in 2008 Kirsty has had many first author research papers and reviews published. Notable journals featuring Kirsty's work include Pain, Journal of Physiology, Brain, European Journal of Pain and Anesthesiology. Kirsty has also written invited editorials and has reviewed papers for the European Journal of Pain, Pain and Molecular Pain amongst others. Research interests include pharmacology of the brain, including the mechanisms of pain and how pain can be controlled in both normal and pathophysiological conditions, and how to translate basic science to the patient
