Kirian van der Weg completed her medical studies in Maastricht. After completing his basic medical training, She started doctoral research into cardiac arrhythmias in acute myocardial infarction, a collaboration between MUMC, AMC, and Duke University in America. For the research, She lived in America for a few months, and finally, She obtained her PhD in Maastricht in 2018.
In the meantime she worked for almost 2 years in cardiology as a general practitioner, followed by a year in internal medicine. During that time she gained experience in those fields and realized that the broad and personal view of a general practitioner is a way of working that makes him happy. In 2015 she started training as a general practitioner in Rotterdam, which she completed in 2018. She has been working as Wij general practitioner at Erasmus University Rotterdam since April 2020.
