Kimberly Sanzo is the founder of Language First. In her current work as a speech-language pathologist at the American School for the Deaf, she creates therapy activities in ASL that aim to reduce the effects of language deprivation. She is committed to educating parents and professionals on the neurological effects of a late or incomplete first language acquisition.
She received her B.A. in Psychology and in Communication Sciences and Disorders from the University of Vermont in 2010 and her M.S. in Speech-Language Pathology from Gallaudet University in 2012. She is currently a doctoral candidate for an SLPD and in the process of working onboard certification in child language through the American Speech and Hearing Association (ASHA). She has given presentations on a variety of topics related to bilingualism, language acquisition, and language deprivation in Deaf children, and she is dedicated to changing the way that SLPs understand and work with D/HH children.
