Dr. Kimberly Anne Gudzune is Affiliate Faculty in the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health. She received her Doctor of Medicine and Master of Public Health degrees from Tulane University. She completed residency training in internal medicine at the University of Maryland Medical System and a clinical research fellowship at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine. She is board-certified in internal medicine and obesity medicine. Over the course of her career, she has developed a robust clinical research program focusing on how obesity influences healthcare experiences and the efficacy of obesity prevention and treatment strategies, including lifestyle interventions and obesity medications.

She has over 130 peer-reviewed publications (H-Index: 28). In addition, she founded and directed a multidisciplinary obesity medicine clinical program and an obesity medicine fellowship at Johns Hopkins. She has held multiple national and international leadership positions in the field of obesity medicine, including chairing the American Diabetes Association’s Professional Practice Committee, developing the first-ever Standards of Care in Overweight and Obesity, and serving as the Medical Director for the American Board of Obesity Medicine, overseeing the certification exam development for U.S. and Canadian physicians.
