Kimberly Coy DeCoste, RN, MSN, CDE, MLDE, FAADE, works as a diabetes self-management education coordinator for the Kentucky Diabetes Prevention and Control Program and since 2012 has been chair of the Kentucky Board of Licensed Diabetes Educators.

DeCoste led the efforts to create a licensure program for diabetes educators in Kentucky and was the state’s first licensed diabetes educator. She helped establish the original legislation, worked with legislators on subsequent changes, spearheaded the initial licensing process and reviewed applications.
