Professor Kim Q. Do has a neurobiologist training; She is the Director of Psychiatric Neuroscience Centre (Department of Psychiatry, University Hospital) and the Schizophrenia Research Unit (URS). As part of his professional activities, it aims primarily to establish a bridge between basic neuroscience and clinical psychiatry. In 1999 she set up the laboratory of the URS and developed an interdisciplinary approach to promote active collaboration between experts in basic neurobiological research and clinicians.

His research program focused on e st a better understanding of the causes and mechanisms leading to spectrum disorder to schizophrenia to early diagnosis and identify new therapeutic targets and preventive measures. Based on an innovative hypothesis, it has been shown that oxidative stress / deregulation of the redox system, among other induced by glutathione deficiency is likely to be a "hub" on which converge the genetic risk factors and environmental during brain development - resulting in an impairment of neuronal connectivity and synchronization as well as the cognitive abilities. With his collaborators, it has been shown in several experimental models that oxidative stress has structural and functional consequences similar to those observed in patients.
