Dr. Kim Van Naarden Braun, MPH, Ph.D. is a Senior Scientific Director of Translational Epidemiology, Informatics, and Predictive Sciences at Bristol Myers Squibb. Dr. Van Naarden Braun brings a diversity of experience using large clinical and claim datasets to design and implement methodologies for assessing health/disease outcomes. Her skills reflect expertise in a range of analytic approaches for investigating the frequency, trends, causes, and correlates of acute and chronic health/disease conditions. Dr. Van Naarden Braun has led many multidisciplinary teams and worked collaboratively across federal, state, and private sectors to translate findings into actionable/consumable tools to improve health outcomes and the quality of clinical practice.

Prior to joining HMH in the summer of 2017, Dr. Van Naarden Braun served as a Senior Epidemiologist at the National Center on Birth Defects and Developmental Disabilities at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention for 20 years. Since 2010, she concurrently served as a State Assignee to the New Jersey Department of Health. During her time with CDC and NJ DOH, Dr. Van Naarden Braun spearheaded the CDC's foundational neurodevelopmental disabilities surveillance and epidemiologic activities, and New Jersey's first statewide surveillance program for screening for critical congenital heart defects. She is a nationally recognized epidemiologist having published over 60 peer-review articles and book chapters. She also serves as a reviewer for several peer-review journals. Dr. Van Naarden Braun's love of data and analytics has been a driver throughout her career.
