Khalid Ansari MD, MA, FRCSC

Dr. Kalid Ansari is an Otolaryngologist – Head & Neck Surgeon who has subspecialized in Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery. After graduating from medical school at the University of Alberta with a gold medal in surgery, he went on to complete a residency in Otolaryngology-Head & Neck Surgery at the University of Alberta, receiving dual certification from the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada and American Board of Otolaryngology-Head & Neck Surgery. Dr. Ansari pursued further training, completing a formal microvascular head and neck reconstruction fellowship at the University of Alberta and a Facial Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery (FPRS) fellowship at the University of Minnesota. Upon graduation, Kal was the recipient of the Jack Anderson Award for the highest score on the American Board of FPRS board exams. Dr. Ansari is board certified by the American Board of Facial Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery.

Academically, Kal is a tenured Associate Professor in the division of Otolaryngology-Head & Neck Surgery at the University of Alberta, teaching facial plastic surgery to residents and performing research. He is the clinical lead of a multidisciplinary research group responsible for tissue engineering nasal cartilages at the University of Alberta. He has been the recipient of numerous teaching awards and has several publications. Dr. Ansari is a regularly invited faculty for teaching courses in facial plastic surgery. He has also completed a Master’s of Academic Medicine from the University of Southern California. Kal is the former Residency Program Director of Otolaryngology-Head & Neck Surgery at the University of Alberta and is the Site Chief of Otolaryngology at his teaching hospital. He is also an active member of the examination board of the ABFPRS.

Dr. Ansari’s primary practice focus is on rhinoplasty, facial skin cancer reconstruction, microvascular reconstruction of the head and neck, and facial rejuvenation.
