Kevin Grumbach MD

Dr. Kevin Grumbach is a family practice doctor who provides primary care. He chairs the Department of Family and Community Medicine in the UCSF School of Medicine. Grumbach earned his medical degree and completed a residency in family medicine at UCSF. He completed a health policy fellowship at the UCSF Institute for Health Policy Studies.

Grumbach is one of the nation's leading researchers and policy analysts in primary care and the health care workforce. He co-authored the best-selling textbook Understanding Health Policy: A Clinical Approach and the book Improving Primary Care: Strategies and Tools for a Better Practice.

Grumbach is a member of the Institute of Medicine. He served on the health policy advisory committee for the presidential campaign of Barack Obama. In 2009, California Campus Compact honored him with the Richard E. Cone Award for Excellence and Leadership in Cultivating Community Partnerships in Higher Education. He was recognized in part for his work in San Francisco on the Bayview Hunters Point Health and Environmental Assessment Task Force.
