Kevin Volpp, MD, PhD, is Professor of Medicine and Health Care Management at University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine Division of General Internal Medicine. He is also Director, Center for Health Incentives and Behavioral Economics, Leonard Davis Institute, and Director, Penn CMU Roybal P30 Center in Behavioral Economics and Health.
Dr. Volpps work focuses on developing and testing innovative ways of applying insights from behavioral economics in improving patient health behavior and affecting provider performance. He has done work with a variety of employers and insurers and health systems testing the effectiveness of financial incentives in addressing tobacco dependence, obesity, and medication non adherence as well as how policy reforms affect hospital quality.
