Dr. Hall is Chief of the Integrative Physiology Section of the Laboratory of Biological Monitoring at the National Institute of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Diseases. He studies metabolic and brain adaptations in response to changes in diet and physical activity. With experiments in both humans and rodents, he has explored the mechanisms regulating macronutrient metabolism, body composition, and energy expenditure. His laboratory is involved in the development of mathematical models to quantitatively describe, explain, integrate, and predict experimental results.
