Dr. Kevin Achberger, PhD, is a group leader at Eberhard Karls Universität Tübingen. His research focuses on the development and application of human pluripotent stem cell–based models to study neurodevelopment, disease mechanisms, and regenerative medicine. Dr. Achberger specializes in advanced in vitro systems, including retinal organoids and organ-on-chip technologies, which enable the modeling of complex human tissues such as the retina.
His work contributes to understanding neurosensory systems and supports the development of translational approaches for disease modeling, drug testing, and gene therapy. He has co-authored multiple studies on stem cell differentiation, vascular and retinal cell modeling, and microphysiological systems, including research on induced pluripotent stem cell–derived endothelial cells and retina-on-chip platforms. His broader scientific interests include neurogenesis, organoid technology, and organ-on-chip systems, bridging basic biology with biomedical applications
