Professor Keri Thomas is the Founder and National Clinical Lead of The National Gold Standards Framework Centre (GSF) in End of Life Care which focuses on enabling generalists to provide a ‘gold standard of care for all people nearing the end of life in all settings. The National GSF Centre is a not-for-profit social enterprise independent company that emerged from the NHS in 2010 and is now the UK’s leading provider of training in end of life care for generalist staff in the UK. Keri is regarded internationally as an expert in improving care for people in the last years of life in all settings. Working as a GP and in hospices for over 30 years, Keri developed GSF for primary care (2000), mainstreamed and used by every UK GP practice at bronze/foundation level since 2004, and later GSF programmes for care homes (2004), hospitals (2008), domiciliary care, prisons, cross-boundary care and others, along with recognised GSF Accreditation with the Quality Hallmark Award.
