Kenneth P. Anderson DO, MS, CPE

Kenneth P. Anderson, D.O., M.S., CPE, is Chief Operating Officer for the Health Research and Educational Trust. Dr. Anderson is responsible for management of day-to-day operations and serves as the internal leader of HRET, assisting in the development and integration of the organizational strategic plan across finance, operations and research for HRET and associated business lines. Dr. Anderson previously served as the Chief Medical Quality Officer for NorthShore University HealthSystem, leading all performance improvement efforts and education and development for the professional staff, including peer review, clinical integration and development of performance indicators. He holds an academic appointment at the University of Chicago Pritzker School of Medicine and founded the Center for Clinical and Research Informatics that was charged with using medical informatics to enhance quality and research. Dr. Anderson serves as a Baldrige National Quality Award Alumni Examiner for the U.S. Department of Commerce.

Dr. Anderson served as Vice President for Quality and Safety at Memorial Health System in South Bend, Indiana, and as Chief Medical Officer for Partners National Health Plans of Indiana. He completed a family medicine residency through the University of Iowa; an internal medicine residency through Yale University; and a nephrology fellowship at the University of Southern California-Los Angeles County Medical Center. He practiced clinical nephrology and transplant medicine in Des Moines, Iowa, serving as Chief of Staff and Department Chairman of Internal Medicine and Division Chief of Nephrology at Mercy Hospital in Des Moines.

He chaired the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services’ Network XII Medical Review Board, providing quality oversight to a four-state dialysis region, was a member of the Iowa State Board of Health, and advised on national health policy as a member of Senator Tom Harkin's National Health Policy Advisory Team serving the Clinton administration. He helped establish the first provider-owned Accountable Health Plan in the state of Iowa, changing legislation regulating the insurance industry.
