Ken Kamler, M.D., is a nationally recognized micro surgeon who has made significant and lasting contributions to the advancement of the practice of extreme medicine in some of the most remote regions on Earth. He is an explorer, climber and medical scientist who has literally saved lives while furthering exploration and has authored several books and many articles on the physiological and psychological effects of extreme environments creating a body of work that educates explorers.

As an expedition doctor and climber, Ken has logged six expeditions to Mount Everest: Four with the National Geographic Society deploying laser telescopes and global positioning satellite receivers to measure the exact height of Everest and tectonic motion of the Asian continental plate; Two as Chief High Altitude Physician monitoring human physiological responses to extreme altitude in real-time ascent for NASA research. Ken has climbed to within 900' of the summit of Everest and during the infamous 1996 storm that claimed twelve lives was the only physician high on the mountain.

Ken Kamler has served on The Explores Club Board of Directors and as a consultant for NASA. He is a member of the Sigma XI National Scientific Research Society. He is the author of Doctor on Everest and Surviving the Extremes.
