Dr. Shain is an Assistant Member at H. Lee Moffitt Cancer Center in the Departments of Malignant Hematology, Tumor Biology, and the Chemical Biology and Molecular Medicine Program. He also has an appointment as an Assistant Professor at the University of South Florida Morsani College of Medicine, in the Department of Oncologic Sciences.

Dr. Shain is a clinician scientist with time divided by clinic, clinic trials, and translational research with primary focus in multiple myeloma and other plasma cell related disorders (including Waldenstrom Macroglobulinemia and Primary Amyloidosis). Dr. Shain has been a resident of the Tampa Bay area for over 35 years, first arriving in St. Petersburg for undergraduate education at Eckerd College. He then earned his PhD under the mentorship of William Dalton, PhD, MD at Moffitt and the USF College of Medicine. Dr. Shain then enrolled in Medical School at USF and completed his internal medicine and hematology/oncology fellowship training via an accelerated translational research track at USF & Moffitt, respectively; thus supporting his career goals to carry-out bench to bedside care and research for myeloma patients as well as the education of physicians and scientists of tomorrow. Currently, Dr. Shain serves as the Scientific Director of the Moffitt Myeloma Working Group (MMWG).
